Biography:

Hector Barbossa, as the cursed Skeleton Barbossa, is a key antagonist turned anti-hero in the *Pirates of the Caribbean* film franchise.

He first appears in *Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl* (2003) as captain of the cursed pirate ship, the Black Pearl. Barbossa and his crew are revealed to be undead skeletons under moonlight due to stealing Aztec gold.

Barbossa's character arc involves his relentless pursuit of the gold to break the curse, his eventual death, and subsequent resurrection in later films as a more complex and, at times, even sympathetic character.
