Deanna Troi is a fictional character in the Star Trek franchise, most prominently known for her role in Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG). She first appeared in the debut episode of TNG, "Encounter at Farpoint" (1987).
Troi served as the ship's counselor aboard the USS Enterprise-D and later the Enterprise-E. A half-Betazoid, half-human, she possessed empathic abilities that allowed her to sense the emotions of others, aiding Captain Picard and the crew in diplomatic and personal matters.
Played by actress Marina Sirtis, Troi's character evolved throughout the series and subsequent Star Trek movies, developing from a primarily passive empath into a more assertive and strategically valuable member of the bridge crew. She is a core character in the TNG era of Star Trek.
