Deanna Troi is a fictional character in the Star Trek universe, primarily known for her role in Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG). Her first appearance was in the series' premiere episode, "Encounter at Farpoint," in 1987.
Troi, portrayed by Marina Sirtis, served as the ship's counselor aboard the USS Enterprise-D. She is a half-Betazoid, possessing empathic abilities that allow her to sense the emotions of others. This ability aided Captain Picard and the crew in negotiations and understanding alien species.
