Omega Red, whose real name is Arkady Rossovich, is a formidable villain from Marvel Comics, known for his mutant abilities and relentless pursuit of his objectives.
He first appeared in X-Men #4 (January 1992). Rossovich was a Soviet serial killer enhanced with cybernetic implants, most notably retractable carbonadium tentacles. These tentacles allowed him to drain the life force of others, strengthening himself and weakening his victims. The carbonadium, while more malleable than adamantium, is still deadly.
Omega Red requires constant suppression of his death factor, a dangerous side effect of his cybernetic enhancements. This need has often been exploited by his enemies to control him. He is generally depicted as a ruthless and powerful foe of the X-Men, particularly Wolverine, due to a shared past and conflict over the carbonadium synthesizer.
