Omega Red, whose real name is Arkady Gregorovich Rossovich, is a fictional supervillain appearing in Marvel Comics. He first appeared in X-Men #4 in January 1992.
Arkady was a Soviet serial killer who was captured and experimented on by the KGB to become a super-soldier. The experiments involved the implantation of retractable carbonadium tentacles into his arms. Carbonadium, a cheaper and less stable version of adamantium, is lethal to those around him.
Omega Red requires regular doses of carbonadium to survive, and uses his tentacles to drain the life force from his victims, causing them to age rapidly and die. He possesses superhuman strength, speed, and durability.
He is often portrayed as a formidable enemy of the X-Men, particularly Wolverine, due to their shared history involving the carbonadium synthesizer that was used to create the carbonadium.
