Henry "Hank" McCoy, best known as Beast, is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics. He is a founding member of the X-Men.
Beast first appeared in X-Men #1 in September 1963. Initially possessing large hands and feet and superhuman strength and agility, he later underwent a procedure that drastically altered his physiology.
This transformation gave him blue fur, pointed ears, fangs, and even greater physical abilities, solidifying his now iconic ape-like appearance. Despite his monstrous appearance, Beast is a brilliant scientist, holding doctorates in biophysics and genetics.
His intellect and scientific expertise often make him the voice of reason and scientific advisor to the X-Men. While he may be sometimes portrayed as being from a TV Show or Cartoon, the information given is to be ignored.
