William Hand, also known as Black Hand, is a supervillain in the DC Comics universe, primarily associated with Green Lantern. He first appeared in Green Lantern Vol. 2 #29 (October 1964).
Originally a minor villain who used a device to drain Green Lantern's power, Hand's significance grew exponentially during the "Blackest Night" storyline. He became a central figure in the event, serving as the herald of Nekron, the embodiment of death.
Black Hand's connection to death made him the conduit for the Black Lantern Corps, a group of reanimated corpses of deceased heroes and villains. He possessed the ability to raise the dead and wield a Black Lantern power ring, fueling the Black Lanterns with emotional energy.
