Biography:
William Hand, better known as Black Hand, is a DC Comics supervillain primarily associated with the Green Lantern Corps. He began his career as a relatively minor villain, using a device that could drain power rings.
Hand's significance drastically increased when he became a central figure in the "Blackest Night" storyline. He was chosen by Nekron, the embodiment of death, to become his herald. Nekron imbued Hand with a Black Lantern power ring, transforming him into a living conduit for the Black Lantern Corps, which reanimated deceased heroes and villains as undead soldiers.
As the Black Hand, Hand possessed the ability to raise the dead and incite their rage, using them as weapons against the living. He was instrumental in the events that led to the Black Lanterns' widespread assault on the DC Universe. His powers are intrinsically tied to death and the manipulation of life force. Following the defeat of Nekron, Hand's connection to death continued to play a role in his subsequent appearances.
