Biography:
Théoden, King of Rohan, is a pivotal character in Peter Jackson's film adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's *The Lord of the Rings*. He first appears in *The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers* as a weakened and manipulated ruler.
Initially, Théoden is portrayed as frail and indecisive, his mind poisoned by Gríma Wormtongue, Saruman's agent. Wormtongue, through subtle influence, effectively paralyzes Rohan's ability to defend itself against the encroaching threat of Isengard.
The arrival of Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli marks a turning point. Gandalf confronts Wormtongue and frees Théoden from Saruman's control. Théoden is restored to his former strength and leadership. He rallies his people, transforming from a figure of despair to a valiant warrior king.
Théoden leads the Rohirrim into battle against Saruman's Uruk-hai at Helm's Deep, and later to the Pelennor Fields to aid Gondor in its desperate struggle against Sauron's forces. He dies valiantly on the Pelennor Fields, but his bravery inspires his people and contributes to the ultimate victory against the Dark Lord.
