Namor, also known as the Sub-Mariner, is a Marvel Comics character created by Bill Everett. He is the mutant son of a human sea captain and a princess of the undersea kingdom of Atlantis.
Namor first appeared in Marvel Comics #1 (October 1939). He is often portrayed as a proud, arrogant, and fiercely independent character, fiercely protective of Atlantis and its people.
Due to his mixed heritage, Namor possesses superhuman strength, speed, and durability, as well as the ability to breathe underwater and fly. He has been both a hero and an anti-hero, sometimes clashing with surface dwellers and other heroes due to his mistrust of humanity and his dedication to protecting his kingdom.
