Biography:
The Rocketeer, created by Dave Stevens, is the alter ego of Cliff Secord, a skilled but somewhat reckless pilot. Set in 1930s Los Angeles, Cliff stumbles upon a stolen rocket pack hidden in a biplane that crashed. He decides to keep it, fascinated by its potential.
Cliff's friend and mechanic, Peevy, helps him understand and maintain the rocket. Cliff initially uses the rocket pack for personal gain, performing daring airshow stunts. However, he soon finds himself embroiled in conflicts with gangsters and Nazi spies, all eager to possess the advanced technology.
Throughout his adventures, Cliff strives to be a hero, balancing his newfound abilities with his love for his girlfriend, Betty, a model and aspiring actress based on pin-up queen Bettie Page. While not possessing any inherent superpowers, Cliff's courage, piloting skills, and the rocket pack make him a formidable force against evil.
The Rocketeer stories are known for their retro aesthetic, blending pulp adventure with elements of science fiction and classic Hollywood glamour.
