Biography:
Tarantula is the name of several characters in Marvel Comics, most notably two villains with enhanced abilities and a spider-like theme. The first and more well-known is Anton Miguel Rodriguez, a revolutionary leader from the fictional Central American nation of Delvadia. He was granted superhuman strength, speed, and agility, along with retractable claws in his gauntlets and boots, by Doctor Karl Kort.
Rodriguez initially sought to overthrow Delvadia's government, engaging in criminal activities to fund his revolution. He frequently clashed with Spider-Man, becoming a recurring foe. His methods were often brutal and ruthless, reflecting his commitment to his cause. Eventually, he was incarcerated and later died in prison.
A second Tarantula, Maria Vasquez, later emerged. She underwent similar procedures to gain her powers, operating as a mercenary and assassin. Like Rodriguez, she faced Spider-Man on multiple occasions. While sharing a similar power set, her motivations and allegiance differed, leading to unique storylines within the Marvel Universe.
