Biography:
Max Rockatansky, also known as Mad Max, is the central character in the Australian post-apocalyptic action film series of the same name, created by George Miller and Byron Kennedy.
Initially portrayed by Mel Gibson in Mad Max (1979), Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981), and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), Max is a Main Force Patrol (MFP) officer in a near-future, dystopian Australia plagued by societal breakdown. His family is murdered by a biker gang, pushing him to the brink of madness and setting him on a path of vengeance and survival.
In Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), Tom Hardy took over the role, portraying a more weathered and taciturn Max. His backstory remains largely the same, though his trauma is further emphasized. He becomes an unwilling ally to Imperator Furiosa in her quest to liberate enslaved women.
Max is often depicted as a skilled driver, a capable fighter, and a man driven by grief and a desire for justice. He is characterized by his iconic black leather attire and his heavily modified Pursuit Special (a Ford Falcon XB GT coupe), known as the "Interceptor." He exists as a loner, drifting through the wasteland, often reluctantly helping others in need.
