Biography:
Joffrey Baratheon, portrayed by Jack Gleeson, first appears in the TV show Game of Thrones (2011) in the very first episode, "Winter Is Coming." He is presented as the eldest son and heir of King Robert Baratheon and Queen Cersei Lannister.
However, Joffrey is not actually Robert's son but the product of an incestuous relationship between Cersei and her twin brother, Jaime Lannister. This illegitimacy is kept secret, allowing Joffrey to ascend the Iron Throne after Robert's death.
As king, Joffrey is cruel, impulsive, and enjoys displays of power and violence. He is easily manipulated by his mother and grandfather, Tywin Lannister, and his reign is marked by instability, brutality, and ultimately, his own assassination at his wedding feast.
