Joffrey Baratheon is a character first appearing in the TV show Game of Thrones, specifically in the first episode, "Winter Is Coming" (2011).
He is outwardly presented as the eldest son and heir of King Robert Baratheon and Queen Cersei Lannister. Following Robert's death, Joffrey ascends the Iron Throne, ruling with cruelty and erratic behavior.
However, the true parentage of Joffrey is a secret closely guarded by Cersei: he is actually the product of her incestuous relationship with her twin brother, Jaime Lannister. This illegitimacy makes his claim to the throne false.
