The White Ranger is a character appearing in the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He first appears in the episode "White Light, Part 1".
Initially, the White Ranger's identity is a mystery, adding to the suspense of his introduction. It is later revealed to be Tommy Oliver, the former Green Ranger.
Tommy Oliver gains the White Ranger powers from Zordon and Alpha 5, upgrading his role from a lone, occasional ally to the leader of the Power Rangers team. His powers are derived from a source of good energy, unlike the Green Ranger's, which had a darker, unstable origin.
The White Ranger's zord is the Tigerzord. The costume and powers of the White Ranger are adapted from the character Kibaranger from the Super Sentai series Zyuranger, which provided footage for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television show.
