Laurie Jupiter, also known as Silk Spectre, first appeared in Watchmen #1 in September 1986. The daughter of Sally Jupiter, the original Silk Spectre, Laurie reluctantly followed in her mother's footsteps as a costumed adventurer.
Initially, her crimefighting activities were driven by her relationship with Dr. Manhattan. After this relationship dissolved, she developed a romantic involvement with Dan Dreiberg, also known as Nite Owl.
