Captain Armando Salazar is a fictional character appearing in the film *Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales* (2017). He serves as the primary antagonist of the film.
Salazar was once a renowned Spanish naval officer and fearsome pirate hunter, known as "El Matador del Mar" (The Sea Devil). He dedicated his life to eradicating piracy from the Caribbean.
He meets his apparent demise when a young Jack Sparrow leads him into the Devil's Triangle, where Salazar's ship, the *Silent Mary*, is destroyed. However, he and his crew are cursed to exist as undead spirits trapped within the Triangle.
Years later, through the actions of Henry Turner, Salazar is freed and seeks vengeance on Jack Sparrow for his eternal torment. His main goal is to kill every pirate on the sea.
