Biography:
Spawn is a comic book character created by Todd McFarlane, debuting in Spawn #1 (May 1992), published by Image Comics.
Formerly known as Albert Francis "Al" Simmons, he was a highly skilled U.S. Marine and CIA agent. After being murdered during a mission, Simmons' soul was sent to Hell due to his questionable life choices.
There, he made a deal with Malebolgia, one of the rulers of Hell, to return to Earth and see his wife, Wanda, again. In exchange, he agreed to become a Hellspawn, a soldier in Malebolgia's army.
Resurrected five years later, Spawn finds himself in a vastly changed world, bonded to a symbiotic suit, and possessing limited memory of his past life. He struggles with his demonic nature, his deal with Malebolgia, and his desire to protect the innocent, ultimately becoming a complex anti-hero.
