Biography:

Spawn is a fictional antihero appearing in comic books published by Image Comics. Created by Todd McFarlane, Spawn first appeared in Spawn #1 in May 1992.

Formerly known as Albert Francis "Al" Simmons, he was a highly trained U.S. Marine and CIA operative. Simmons was murdered during a mission. Upon arriving in Hell, he made a deal with Malebolgia, one of Hell's rulers, to see his wife Wanda again. Simmons agreed, becoming a Hellspawn.

He was resurrected as a powerful, demonic warrior, but with a severely disfigured appearance and amnesia regarding his former life. Al Simmons was transformed into a creature of the night, a Hellspawn tasked with serving Malebolgia's army. He struggles with his dark nature and seeks to protect the innocent while fighting against both Heaven and Hell.
