Biography:
Lex Luthor, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, first appeared in *Action Comics #23* in 1940. He is Superman's greatest nemesis, a brilliant scientist and businessman consumed by an intense jealousy and hatred for the Man of Steel.
On the *Super Friends* cartoon, Luthor often appeared as the leader of the Legion of Doom, plotting various schemes to defeat the Super Friends and conquer the world. He was typically depicted with a more comical and less menacing demeanor than his comic book counterpart.
Luthor views Superman as an alien interloper who threatens humanity's potential and his own accomplishments. He dedicates his considerable intellect and resources to proving Superman is not needed, or to outright destroying him, often employing elaborate plans and advanced technology.
