Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, known for his mastery of manipulating midi-chlorians to create and save life. His existence is primarily known through dialogue between Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) and Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
Plagueis was obsessed with achieving immortality and believed he could conquer death itself. He dedicated himself to studying the deepest secrets of the Force, pushing the boundaries of what was considered possible by both Jedi and Sith.
According to Palpatine, Plagueis taught his apprentice everything he knew. Ironically, his greatest achievement—discovering how to save others from death—ultimately led to his own demise. His apprentice, Darth Sidious, learned the secret and then murdered Plagueis in his sleep, taking his power for himself.
While only mentioned briefly in the films, Darth Plagueis has become a significant figure in Star Wars lore. He is portrayed in the novel Darth Plagueis by James Luceno, which further explores his life, motivations, and relationship with Palpatine.
