Darth Plagueis is a Sith Lord mentioned in Star Wars lore, specifically during a scene in the film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005). He is not physically present in the film but is discussed by Chancellor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) while manipulating Anakin Skywalker.

According to Palpatine, Plagueis was incredibly powerful, able to manipulate the Force to create life and prevent others from dying. He became so powerful that the only thing he feared was losing his power, which, ironically, he eventually did. Palpatine claims that Plagueis taught his apprentice everything he knew, only to be killed by that same apprentice in his sleep. This story is primarily a plot device used by Palpatine to tempt Anakin to the dark side by suggesting that the Sith could offer the key to immortality.

While Plagueis does not appear onscreen, his legend has become a significant part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe (Legends) and continues to intrigue fans. He is often speculated about and theorized to be a major player behind the scenes of the Star Wars saga, though his role in the current canon remains largely unknown beyond Palpatine's account.
