Biography:
Arthas Menethil is a central character in the World of Warcraft universe. He first appeared in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.
Originally the Crown Prince of Lordaeron and a promising paladin of the Silver Hand, Arthas was driven to drastic measures in his zealous pursuit of stopping the undead Scourge. He made the fateful decision to purge the city of Stratholme, killing innocent civilians to prevent their zombification.
This path led him to Northrend, where he sought the runeblade Frostmourne, believing it was the key to defeating the Scourge. However, wielding the blade corrupted him, turning him into a death knight and servant of the Lich King. Arthas ultimately merged with the Lich King, becoming the most powerful being of that title and leading the Scourge in a devastating assault on Azeroth.
He was eventually defeated by heroes of the Alliance and Horde in Icecrown Citadel. His story is a tragic tale of a noble hero's descent into darkness, driven by fear and a misguided sense of justice.
