Biography:

The Wither Skeleton is a hostile mob found in the Nether dimension of the game Minecraft. It is a variant of the standard Skeleton.

Wither Skeletons are taller and black in color compared to regular Skeletons. They wield stone swords and inflict the "Wither" status effect upon players they attack. This effect damages the player over time.

These formidable adversaries are primarily found within Nether Fortresses. They drop coal, bones, and rarely, Wither Skeleton Skulls. The skulls are crucial for summoning the powerful Wither boss.

The Wither Skeleton first appeared in the Pretty Scary Update (version 1.4.2) of Minecraft.
