Biography:

The Wither Skeleton is a hostile mob found in the Nether dimension of Minecraft. A variant of the standard Minecraft Skeleton, it is taller, black, and wields a stone sword.

Its first appearance was in the 1.4.2 update, also known as the "Pretty Scary Update", released in October 2012.

Wither Skeletons are primarily found in Nether Fortresses. When they attack, they inflict the "Wither" effect on the player, slowly draining health and turning the health bar black. Upon death, they can drop coal, bones, and rarely, Wither Skeleton Skulls. These skulls are necessary to construct the Wither boss, a powerful and dangerous enemy.

The Wither Skeleton's design and behavior contribute to the challenging and dangerous atmosphere of the Nether.
