Biography:

The Wither Skeleton is a hostile mob found in the Nether dimension of the Game Minecraft. It is a variant of the standard Minecraft Skeleton.

Wither Skeletons first appeared in Minecraft's 1.4.2 update, released in 2012, known as the "Pretty Scary Update." They are black skeletal figures wielding stone swords.

Unlike regular Skeletons, Wither Skeletons inflict the "Wither" status effect on players they attack. This effect slowly drains the player's health and turns the player's health bar black. They are also the only source of Wither Skeleton Skulls, needed to summon the Wither boss.
