Red Guardian, portrayed by David Harbour in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is a superhero and a key member of the Thunderbolts*. His real name is Alexei Shostakov and he is introduced as the adoptive father figure to Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) and Yelena Belova (Black Widow) during their time posing as a family in Ohio.

Alexei is a super-soldier, the Soviet Union's equivalent to Captain America. He possesses enhanced strength, speed, and durability. His past is shrouded in mystery, but it is hinted he has had various superheroic exploits in service to the Soviet Union. He had an appearance in the movie *Black Widow*

Red Guardian is known for his boisterous personality, his tall tales of past glories, and his complicated relationship with his "daughters". He is recruited to be part of the Thunderbolts*, a team of anti-heroes and reformed villains assembled by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
