Red Guardian is a superhero alias used by several characters in Marvel Comics. The most prominent version within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is Alexei Shostakov.
Alexei Shostakov is a Russian super-soldier and the husband of Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow). He was Russia's answer to Captain America, possessing enhanced strength, agility, and durability. A skilled pilot, Alexei also had extensive combat training.
In the MCU, Red Guardian's first appearance was in the film *Black Widow* (2021), portrayed by actor David Harbour. The movie explores his past, including his relationship with Natasha and his role as a Soviet operative during the Cold War. In *Black Widow* it's revealed he was placed in America posing as the family of Natasha and Yelena Belova.
