Glinda, often recognized by her iconic bright pink dress, is a prominent character associated with the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. She is the Good Witch of the North, a benevolent sorceress who guides and protects Dorothy Gale throughout her journey in the Land of Oz.

While originating in L. Frank Baum's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz as the Good Witch of the South, the film adaptation conflates the northern and southern witches into one character and relocates Glinda's domain to the South. In the film, she is portrayed by Billie Burke, whose gentle demeanor and soothing voice have become synonymous with the role.

Glinda's powers are primarily defensive and supportive. She cannot directly confront the Wicked Witch of the West but uses her magic to advise Dorothy, reveal the Wicked Witch's weaknesses, and ultimately help Dorothy return home. Her message emphasizes self-reliance and the power that individuals possess within themselves, symbolized by the ruby slippers.
