Biography:

Uruk-hai are a formidable type of Orc bred in Middle-earth by Sauron during the late Third Age.

They first appear in *The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers* (film) and are distinguished from other Orcs by their larger size, greater strength, and tolerance of sunlight. Saruman also bred his own Uruk-hai, marked with the White Hand of Saruman, in the pits of Isengard.

These Uruk-hai were used as shock troops in Saruman's army. While similar to Sauron's Uruk-hai, Saruman’s breed were made independently and had a fierce loyalty to him.
