Tanjiro Kamado is the main protagonist of the anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He first appears in the first episode of the anime, "Cruelty", as a kind-hearted young boy who supports his family by selling charcoal.

Tanjiro's life is shattered when he returns home to find his entire family slaughtered by a demon, with only his younger sister, Nezuko, surviving but transformed into a demon herself.

Driven by a desire to avenge his family and find a way to turn Nezuko back into a human, Tanjiro embarks on a perilous journey as a demon slayer, training under the guidance of Sakonji Urokodaki. He becomes a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, honing his swordsmanship and mastering Water Breathing techniques.

Throughout the series, Tanjiro confronts numerous demons, demonstrating unwavering determination, compassion, and a strong sense of justice. His bond with Nezuko remains his central motivation as he strives to protect her and eliminate the threat of demons from the world.
