Tanjiro Kamado is the protagonist of the popular anime and manga series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
He begins as a kind and compassionate young man living in the mountains with his family, earning a living by selling charcoal. After returning home one day, he discovers his family has been slaughtered by demons, with only his younger sister, Nezuko, surviving but transformed into a demon herself.
Driven by a fierce determination to avenge his family and restore Nezuko's humanity, Tanjiro embarks on a perilous journey, becoming a demon slayer. He trains rigorously under the guidance of former Water Pillar, Urokodaki Sakonji.
Tanjiro's fighting style primarily utilizes Water Breathing techniques, passed down by Urokodaki. He later masters the Sun Breathing technique, the original and most powerful breathing style. He wields a Nichirin Blade, which changes color based on the wielder; Tanjiro's is black.
