Whitney Frost, also known as Madame Masque, is a complex character in Marvel Comics. Her first appearance was in Tales of Suspense #97 (January 1968).
Born Giulietta Nefaria, she was the daughter of the villain Count Nefaria. He placed her with a wealthy family, the Frosts, who raised her as Whitney Frost.
Unaware of her true parentage, Whitney became a prominent socialite. However, her ties to her biological father led her down a path of crime. She eventually adopted the identity of Madame Masque, becoming a formidable leader within the Maggia crime syndicate.
A defining characteristic of Madame Masque is her golden mask, worn to conceal facial scars resulting from an accident. She has often been an adversary of Iron Man, and has also been romantically linked to him.
