Biography:
Jack Torrance is a fictional character most famously portrayed by Jack Nicholson in Stanley Kubrick's 1980 horror film, The Shining. This film adaptation marks Torrance's first appearance in a major cinematic role.
Torrance is a struggling writer and recovering alcoholic who takes a winter caretaker position at the isolated Overlook Hotel in the Colorado Rockies. Hoping to overcome writer's block and repair his strained family relationships, he brings his wife, Wendy, and son, Danny, with him.
As the winter progresses and the family becomes increasingly isolated, Jack slowly descends into madness.
