Doctor Who

Clara Oswald is a fictional character portrayed by Jenna Coleman in the long-running BBC science fiction television series, Doctor Who. She is a companion to the Eleventh and Twelfth incarnations of the Doctor.

Clara first appeared, albeit in a different form, in the Series 7 episode "Asylum of the Daleks" (2012) as Oswin Oswald, a brilliant programmer trapped within a Dalek. This version of Clara dies at the end of the episode.

Later, another iteration of Clara, known as Clara Oswin Oswald, appeared in the Christmas special "The Snowmen" (2012). She is a Victorian barmaid and governess. This version also dies. The Doctor then encounters the 'real' Clara Oswald in "The Bells of Saint John" (2013), a modern-day woman who he begins traveling with.

The central mystery surrounding Clara is the existence of these multiple versions of herself throughout the Doctor's timeline, revealed to be the result of her entering the Doctor's timestream to undo the damage caused by the Great Intelligence in "The Name of the Doctor" (2013). She departs the TARDIS in "Hell Bent" (2015).
