Jake Sully, initially a paraplegic human Marine, is the central protagonist of the Avatar film series. Recruited for the Avatar Program in the 22nd century, Jake's mission was to infiltrate the Na'vi, the indigenous inhabitants of Pandora, in order to facilitate resource extraction by the Resources Development Administration (RDA).

Through prolonged immersion in his Na'vi avatar body, Jake gradually forms a deep connection with Neytiri, a Na'vi huntress, and the culture of her people. He learns their customs, spirituality, and their bond with the Pandoran ecosystem. He ultimately rejects his initial mission and sides with the Na'vi, becoming a fierce warrior and defender of Pandora.

Jake's transformation culminates in him becoming Toruk Makto, a legendary figure who unites the Na'vi clans to defend their homeland against the RDA. Following the RDA's defeat, Jake permanently transfers his consciousness into his avatar body, fully embracing his Na'vi identity and life on Pandora. He marries Neytiri and becomes a leader within the Na'vi society, raising a family and continuing to protect Pandora from external threats.
