Jake Sully is the protagonist of James Cameron's science fiction film, Avatar, and its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water.
Born human, Jake is a paraplegic former Marine. He's recruited to the Avatar Program on Pandora, a lush alien moon, to replace his deceased twin brother, who was a trained Avatar driver.
Through neural link technology, Jake controls an avatar – a genetically engineered Na'vi body, the indigenous species of Pandora. His mission is to infiltrate the Na'vi and persuade them to relocate, allowing the Resources Development Administration (RDA) to mine unobtanium, a valuable resource.
However, Jake increasingly empathizes with the Na'vi, falling in love with Neytiri and learning their ways. He ultimately defects from the RDA, leading the Na'vi in a successful defense of their home against the human invaders.
He permanently transfers his consciousness into his avatar body, becoming fully Na'vi and a leader of the Omaticaya clan. He and Neytiri become a couple and have children.
