Biography:
Maxwell Dillon, also known as Electro, is a Marvel Comics character who appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). He originated in the 2014 film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, portrayed by Jamie Foxx, and his No Way Home appearance is a multiversal variant of that character.
In his home universe, Dillon was an electrical engineer at Oscorp Industries, underappreciated and largely ignored. An accident involving genetically engineered electric eels transformed him into a living capacitor, granting him control over electricity. However, the transformation also rendered him increasingly unstable and power-hungry.
Electro's initial motivation revolved around gaining recognition and respect, often manifesting as anger towards Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) whom he blamed for his misfortune. He battled Spider-Man on several occasions, unleashing devastating electrical attacks. Ultimately, he was seemingly defeated.
Pulled into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) by Doctor Strange's spell, Electro initially retained his animosity towards Spider-Man. However, interaction with other villains and the prospect of unlimited power, combined with the MCU’s Stark technology, reshaped his goals. Before being returned to his own universe, cured by Peter Parker (Tom Holland), he came to respect Spider-Man, acknowledging him as a hero.
