Biography:
Gan Ning, courtesy name Xingba, was a prominent general serving under the warlord Sun Quan during the late Eastern Han dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. He initially served under Liu Biao and then Huang Zu, but defected to Sun Quan after feeling underappreciated.
Known for his bell-clad war attire and fierce temperament, Gan Ning was a courageous and skilled warrior. He was particularly renowned for his daring raid on Cao Cao's camp at Ruxu, where he displayed exceptional bravery and tactical acumen, earning him the moniker "Bandit King".
Gan Ning played a crucial role in several key battles for Sun Quan, including the Battle of Jiangxia and the Battle of Xiaoyao Ford. He was considered one of Sun Quan's most dependable and effective generals, often leading surprise attacks and bolstering morale with his fearless leadership.
Despite his contributions, Gan Ning was sometimes impulsive and prone to violence. He eventually succumbed to illness, but remained a celebrated figure for his valor and effectiveness in battle, solidifying his place as one of the notable warriors of the era.
