Orochimaru is a prominent antagonist in the Naruto anime and manga series, debuting in Chapter 46 of the manga and Episode 27 of the original Naruto anime.
Originally a student of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, Orochimaru was recognized for his exceptional talent but also harbored a dangerous ambition for immortality and forbidden knowledge. He was driven by the belief that human life was too short to master all the world had to offer.
This thirst for power led him to experiment with forbidden jutsu, ultimately abandoning Konohagakure to pursue his own goals. He founded Otogakure, the Village Hidden in Sound, to gather followers and continue his research into immortality.
Orochimaru's primary objective throughout the series is to acquire the Sharingan, a powerful Kekkei Genkai possessed by members of the Uchiha clan, particularly Sasuke Uchiha, whom he seeks as a future vessel.
