Orochimaru is a major antagonist in the anime series Naruto Shippuden. He first appears during the Chunin Exams arc in the original Naruto series.
Originally a student of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, Orochimaru became disillusioned with the Leaf Village and pursued forbidden techniques in his quest for immortality. His experiments and thirst for power led to his defection and earned him the label of a rogue ninja.
