Biography:

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Chitauri are a reptilian alien race that serves as a formidable warrior force. They are not a naturally unified race, but are instead linked through cybernetic augmentation and mind control, making them a weaponized army.

They are most notably associated with Thanos, serving as his shock troops during the Battle of New York in The Avengers (2012). Loki, acting as Thanos' proxy, commanded the Chitauri invasion force through a portal above Stark Tower.

The Chitauri appear again in Avengers: Endgame (2019), as part of Thanos' army that confronts the Avengers in the film's climactic battle.
