Hidan is a prominent antagonist in the Naruto Shippuden series, primarily recognized as an immortal member of the Akatsuki organization.

He hails from Yugakure, the Village Hidden in Hot Water, though his past is largely shrouded in mystery. Hidan abandoned his village after becoming disillusioned with its pacifist ideals, embracing a path of violence and destruction.

Hidan is a devoted follower of the Jashin religion, a cult that demands ritualistic sacrifice. His immortality stems from his unwavering faith and performance of Jashin's rituals, allowing him to survive normally fatal injuries.

His fighting style revolves around obtaining his opponent's blood to perform a ritual. By ingesting their blood, he establishes a link, and any damage he inflicts upon himself is mirrored on his opponent, ultimately leading to their demise. His weapon of choice is a triple-bladed scythe, used to collect the necessary blood.

Hidan's partner within the Akatsuki is Kakuzu, a pragmatic and financially driven individual. Their conflicting personalities often led to friction, yet they were a formidable team due to Kakuzu's ability to keep Hidan's immortality in check and Hidan's unique offensive capabilities. He is ultimately defeated by Shikamaru Nara, who exploits his immortality to bury him alive in the Nara clan forest.
