Hidan is a prominent antagonist in the anime series Naruto Shippuden. He is an immortal member of the Akatsuki, a criminal organization composed of powerful ninjas.
Hidan hails from Yugakure (Village Hidden in Hot Water), a place that embraced tourism over shinobi training. Disgusted by this, he became a devout follower of the Jashin religion, a faith that glorifies destruction and sacrifice.
His partner in the Akatsuki is Kakuzu, an older, financially-minded ninja. They form an unlikely and often volatile duo. Hidan's immortality stems from Jashin's rituals. After ingesting an opponent's blood and drawing a Jashin symbol on the ground, he can link his body with theirs. Any damage he inflicts upon himself is mirrored on his opponent, making him exceptionally dangerous.
