Sheev Palpatine, later known as Emperor Palpatine, is a central antagonist in the Star Wars saga. He first appears as a Senator from Naboo in *Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace*.
Palpatine is a master manipulator and a Sith Lord known as Darth Sidious. He orchestrates the Clone Wars, playing both sides of the conflict to consolidate power and undermine the Galactic Republic.
Through calculated schemes, Palpatine gradually acquires emergency powers, ultimately transforming the Republic into the Galactic Empire, with himself as its absolute ruler. His reign is characterized by oppression, fear, and the suppression of dissent.
