Hidan is a character from the anime series Naruto Shippuden. He is first introduced in episode 71, "The Closest Enemy".

Hidan is an immortal member of the Akatsuki, a criminal organization composed of powerful missing-nin. He hails from Yugakure, the Village Hidden in Hot Water, and is a devout follower of the religion of Jashin, whose primary tenet is that of complete destruction and sacrifice.

Hidan's immortality stems from his dedication to Jashin. Through a ritual, he achieved a state where he cannot die from conventional wounds, allowing him to survive dismemberment and even decapitation.

His fighting style revolves around inflicting pain and injury upon himself after acquiring his opponent's blood, which he uses to create a symbol on the ground. Any damage he inflicts on himself within that symbol is mirrored onto his opponent due to a unique and macabre jutsu.
