Iron Man
Alias:
Tony Stark - Robert Downey Jr.
Brand:
Phoenix Customs
Year:
2020
Theme:
Marvel
Biography:
The Iron Man Mark XLII (42) armor is a fictional powered exoskeleton appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), primarily associated with the film Iron Man 3. It is the forty-second Iron Man armor created by Tony Stark, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.
The Mark XLII is notable for its experimental "autonomous prehensile propulsion" system. This allows the suit to assemble itself onto Stark remotely, piece by piece. This technology is imperfect in Iron Man 3, leading to humorous and sometimes unreliable assembly sequences.
While the Mark XLII is a primary suit in Iron Man 3, it is ultimately damaged during the climactic battle. Later in the MCU, broken pieces of the suit can be seen amongst Stark's collected armors and broken suits in Spider-man: Homecoming during a scene when he is talking to Ned. It does not feature in Avengers AgeofUltron.
The suit is easily identifiable by its distinctive color scheme, featuring a predominantly gold body with silver/grey plating on the limbs and midsection, a departure from the traditional red and gold Iron Man color scheme.
