Ichigo Kurosaki is the protagonist of the anime series Bleach. He first appears in the first episode of the anime, titled "Death and the Strawberry", which aired on October 5, 2004.
Ichigo is a high school student who gains the powers of a Soul Reaper after an encounter with Rukia Kuchiki. This event forces him to take on the duties of a Soul Reaper, protecting humans from evil spirits called Hollows and guiding souls to the afterlife.
