Quentin Beck, portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal, is the Marvel Cinematic Universe's iteration of Mysterio. He first appeared in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Beck is initially presented as a hero from an alternate Earth, battling elemental threats. He claims to be from Earth-833, different from the MCU's Earth-616. He quickly gains the trust of Nick Fury and Peter Parker.
However, this is revealed to be a fabrication. Beck is actually a disgruntled former Stark Industries employee. He was part of a team responsible for creating holographic illusion technology, which Tony Stark dismissed as impractical. Bitter and seeking recognition, Beck uses this technology, along with drones and manipulated news media, to create the illusion of his heroism and the elemental attacks. His ultimate goal is to replace Iron Man as the world's premier hero.
Mysterio is ultimately defeated by Spider-Man, but not before exposing Spider-Man's true identity to the world in a posthumous video message.
